My awful, shitty story. Moral of it: Cocaine is bad and humanity can go suck a dick ^^

Fuck. Its 2:07 am and I can't sleep, Jules thought. He lay in his bed and watched the ceiling fan spin. He lay for what felt like hours, mesmerized by the fan. He looked over at his clock to see only three minutes had passed. “Oh for Christ sake.” He sat up and picked up his phone beside the bed. He entered the number for Dayton and clicked call. He lay down again with the phone next to his ear. His bed moved slightly and he looked over to see his girlfriend.

“What’s wrong, Jules?”

“Nothing go back to sleep.” She lay back down and he got up and left the room. A few rings later and Dayton answered. “Dayton?”

“Yeah, man. Who’s this?”

“Its Jules. Dude, I need a fix. Can you help me out with that?”

“I dunno, dude. Its fuckin’ early… fuck it. Why not. Meet me on Park street in the alley behind that shitty diner.”

“Thanks, man.” He closed his cell and walked back into his room. His girlfriend began to move again and she sat up and looked at him.

“Where the fuck are you going at 2:20 in the morning?”

“I need… something. I’ll be back. Just go to sleep.” She grumbled something a lay back down again. He pulled on a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, socks and sneakers. As he approached the door of their apartment he grabbed a sweatshirt off the hook and slid his wallet in back pocket. He dropped his cell phone in his sweatshirt pocket and left.

As he left the building, he pulled out a cigarette and lighter and lit the cigarette. After taking a long draft and exhaling the smoke, he proceeded to walk towards his destination. He walked around a corner to see a homeless person digging through a dumpster. He stopped and examined the man. His scruffy hair and filthy beard were appalling. The holes in his clothes couldn’t have made sleeping on the ground warm or comfortable. He began to approach the man to give him some money but as soon as the man saw Jules, he darted off in another direction. Jules stopped and looked around. He knelt down and put a twenty dollar bill on the ground for the man. He stood up again and continued walking where he needed to go.

“Sucks what these guys live through.” He walked down the street some more and turned another corner to see the diner. The lights were still on and there were a few people inside enjoying an early breakfast. He approached the diner and walked beside it into the alley that led behind. He got behind to see Dayton there having a cigarette. He looked up as he heard footsteps approaching and smiled.

“Jules! Great to see ya. Wanna get some breakfast after this?” He placed his hands in his pockets and smiled some more.

“Dayton, as great as that sounds I gotta get back home.” Dayton stopped smiling.

“Alright. All business. No time to hang out. That’s cool.” He began to dig through his pockets and pulled out a small bag of white powder. “Your cocaine, good sir. Do you have the cash?”

“You’re fucking kidding. Of course I have the cash.” He began to pull out his wallet when a screech of tires was heard behind them. He dropped his wallet and started to make a dash for it with Dayton following behind. Two shots were fired from a silenced pistol and one of them his Dayton in the arm. He began to run faster than Jules while screaming in pain. “Dayton. Who the fuck are these guys?!”

“I don’t know, man.” Another shot. This one hit Jules in the back crippling him. As he fell to the ground, Dayton didn’t even stop to help. He continued to run. He heard footsteps behind him and he began to play dead. The men ran right past him as if they didn’t even notice him there. He slowly began to try and stand up but failed in the process. He just lay there and bled out. He looked up to see the men chasing after Dayton. They seemed to have stopped and began yelling at one another because he escaped.

Lucky sonuvabitch. He was still looking up at the men and was trying not to let them see he was still alive. One of the men looked his way and saw him moving. He hit the other man and pointed at Jules. They began to walk in his direction with their guns pointed at his head. “No. No, no, no, no! You can’t do this! Somebody help me! Somebody!!” The guns clicked and then there was nothing. Silence. No pain, no suffering. Just black.

The men stood up and pulled off their ski masks as they began to walk away. “So how about breakfast?” No explanation for why this was done. Jules remained a bloody mess in the alleyway.
