The People missing from Time

They were born in the 20th and 21st centuries, all from Earths past. They lead normal lives of regular people who through some small misfortune got lost in time and space. They were from all over the world, all through time and different places, but they all disappeared at the same moment. Every year on April 19th, 11:29.48GMT, at least someone disappeared from one of these cities: Calgary, Alberta; Hartford, Connecticut; Santiago, Chile; Johannesburg, South Africa; Tokyo, Japan; Melbourne, Australia; and Edinburgh, Scotland. When they were taken from these cities, they were brought some place else.

Where were they, and why were they there?

The Space Station

In the year 500,025, the human race has travelled to the farthest reaches of the universe. However, close to the earth, lies a station near the moon, looking out for the welfare of the human race. It not only acts as a place for out-going earth shuttles, but also acts as a series of embassies for aliens seeking diplomatic relationships with the human race.

Basically, above the earth, after the sky turns into space, a small city is growing.

The Rifts

On earth, there are known rifts through time and space and their locations are known only to a few specialists throughout earth's past. Not only do creatures from other parts of space and time come certain those cities where these rifts lie, but folk from just around where these rifts are located know that people can disappear through it. Sometimes the people who disappear into the rift are transported years in the future or years in the past after going through some unspeakable trauma while others do not return at all.

These travelers, displaced by the rift, are taken to places they could never have dreamt of in any of their dreams (in some cases nightmares). Some die upon arrival, while others adapt to their new surroundings, living out the rest of their lives in an alien environment.

In a rare event, through luck or random genius, some may even find a way home.

Players: You can be anyone from the 20th or 21st century, past, present, and future. I will allow one historian, one scientist, and one person skilled at alien technology and history and whatnot. If your character is from 2025 and onward, they know that aliens exist. I've not figured out what kind and how much they know, but for right now, they at least know something is in the stars.

Anywho, use your imagination. Also, when thinking up characters, you don't have to have them be born in the listed cities, just make sure they end up there so they can be taken to the future.

I encourage multiple characters for some may not survive. Please note the character you are least attached to. Thanks!
