| Those That Would Live Forever: Excalibur
Imagine a Britain, if you will, if the Industrial Revolution happened slightly differently. Welcome to Steampunk Earth, 1932.
One of the greatest legends of the world is that of ‘The Unicorn’.
Who?
Glad you asked. :big_laugh:
‘The Unicorn’, a man that went by many names, all of them false, was one of the principle engineers and inventors of the Industrial Revolution, of the nineteenth century. Some deny his very existence; he is something of an Arthurian Legend, if you will. Unicorn-believers the world-over are trying to prove his existence by locating his tomb, though quite where that is supposed to be… no-one is too sure. Many use inventions traditionally accredited to The Unicorn – many declare his involvement in the invention of the piston, of the steam engine, and of many cog and wheel mechanisms. However, his most famous ‘invention’, one denied by even many Unicorn-believers, a pocket watch attributed with many wondrous and miraculous qualities, many of which are of some dispute. They include being able to read minds, to see the future, and to live forever. Due to the Arthurian-esque nature of both The Unicorn and the pocket watch, the latter has been humorously called ‘Excalibur’ by historians and storytellers alike.
Some people believe in The Unicorn. A small number of these believe in Excalibur. One of these people is prepared to lie, to steal and to kill in order to find it, and our characters are going to get sucked into the plot.
That’s the story. Interested?
Yes, this was originally on RPGFO, and doesn't look like it'll take off over there. | |
