| I recently bought a game called Aion and used to play WoW. I have to say that this game looks like someone from Blizzard left, started his own game company, and made this game. It's close enough in gameplay that I fear Blizzard will sue them eventually. The game is a hell of a lot more graphics intensive. my quad core and crossfire setup is struggling to keep up in the major cities/fortresses and the level of detail is just staggering. It's scary how close to WoW this game is. My current Character:- Spoiler:
And here's the main site for the game: http://na.aiononline.com/ If you are tired of WoW, seeing the same stuff and doing the same quests/raids/etc over and over again, then try this game. It's got the same monthly subscription but it's pretty cool. I've had to figure stuff all over again due to the different button layouts and it gets decidedly more in depth once you hit level 10 and ascend. That Pic above is what you get when you ascend. You pretty much get your "flying mount" at level 10 and can even duel and fight in the air; one of the few things that you can't do in WoW of course. ^^ So how does it look to the rest?

| Aion is boring. I own them both and I've rerolled on Aion and I can't stand it. The only customisation options in Aion are the characters. The gameplay itself is dead boring, you don't have to do anything. It auto turns, it auto runs, and if you try to snap around whatever spell you're casting is immediately canceled. It lacks severely in replay value. Flying gives you a very limited timer, half the time I run out trying to gather Aether residue because the timer has to decide whether to let you succeed or fail and sometimes has taken the entire flight time to say "Oh hey sorry no you failed." The Elyos storyline is not NEARLY as interesting as the Asmodian one, and Asmodians are far outnumbering Elyos so far on any realm I've played. I ended up rerolling my Asmodian to Elyos because the friend I was playing with, his friend was an Elyos on that server already. So oh the joy of starting over and doing all those boring quests again. This time I got her to 10 and I haven't been back to play since. It bores me to death, it has nothing to keep me playing, involved, even paying the subscription fee. My Elyos Chanter: Complete with the flight timer bitching at me. - Spoiler:

If you're looking to get away from WoW, this isn't going to beat it. Every person who I've known on WoW and gone to Aion, is canceling or has already canceled their subscription. Myself included. If as PS says, you're tired of seeing the same stuff, I for one wouldn't suggest Aion, really. You're going to get the same quests, dungeons over, and over. Exactly the same as with WoW. At least with WoW you don't have to worry about spending all that time gathering your materials, to start crafting to discover, oh hey, you failed. All your stuff is destroyed, go find it all again and you might be able to craft it this time. You get bored on WoW, go do achievements, go gather pets, go farm things, go pvp, go play with friends. You get bored on Aion? Um, /twiddle.

| I was good enough on WoW that I could take down level 70 players at level 60 with my mage. After I realized that I could do this, I stopped playing. Aion is my personal savior to WoW. Trust me, there's nothing new to WoW. This game is, more or less, or seems to be at least, a solo gamer type MMO. I was never good at doing the guild thing. If you're gonna compare WoW as it is NOW to Aion, don't bother. If you compare the original WoW to Aion, they're fairly even in what you can do. Aion just came out this past year. I'm not surprised at the little you can really do. I'm having fun with it because WoW doesn't do it for me anymore and not to mention that most of the Aion players were former WoW peeps who also got tired of the same stuff over and over again and wanted something new. When you got bored on WoW, when it first came out and you had no friends/there were few guilds/places to go, you did pretty much the same thing... *twiddles thumbs* The farther you play into the game, the better it usually gets. It's the new thing for me at the moment. It does have the "Holy shit!" *O.O* Factor when it comes to graphics though. My machine keeps up but that's because it set stuff to low-med and it already looks better than WoW. | |
