| The year is 2542. The U.S.A. is no more. It was destroyed in a nuclear fire fight with Russia. The Russians have lost everything and have begun trying to push their refugees into Europe and Asia. Africa is isolated from the rest of the world. When the U.S. was destroyed Africa was quarantined to stop the spread of the AIDS virus. South America is in a state of anarchy. Australia and Britain are the two safest places to be at the moment, but it won’t remain that way forever. The UK has organized a small specialized group to undertake the testing of it’s newest technology.
A time machine. Thanks to the Russian professor Lev Dimitrova, who has been working with the British to create such a machine. It is complete, after 40 years of work. The task force is being briefed. Their goal? To travel backwards in time to prevent actions occurring that would lead to the world as it has become. They will travel back to times such as the American Civil War, World Wars I and II, and more. This task force will change outcomes of battles and rewrite history as it is known. But will their actions bring about a better world? Or one in a state even worse than it is already in. ______________________________________________________________________
Ok, so this is my first real "sci-fi" project. Just doing an interest check right now. If I get some interest I will start this up. Please post questions and interest here.

| Aye. What level of tech will we have with us? I assume the future includes some pretty neat shit if we get to go back in time, but what do we have in portable size? | |

| I was thinking of some pretty nifty high tech gadgets that would give us an edge over our enemies. I would say anything you can carry, you can take. I am up for people making up their own guns, so long as it doesnt get out of control. I will accept guns with heat sensing scopes, bullet piercing rounds and the like. I dont want laser guns though. No Star Wars here, sorry . We will have synthetic armor that covers our full torso and lower body that is bullet proof. It can only take so much damage though, it isnt indestructible. If we are in WW2 and your character were to get a clip of MP40 ammo unloaded into his chest, it would pierce the armor, no avoiding that. Basically any gadgets you want. I know I am planning to use mines, grenades, and some made up toys that sound fun. | |

| Wicked mate. ^^ I'm working on prototype inventions now. I've so far got communications down to an art, if it passes specs. Instant mind to mind communication of sounds, images, words, smells, anything you want to send and the other person wants to receive. | |

| Ok, character sheet time. I want your characters to be as human as possible. For example, a soldier won't have a hard time killing someone, but if you are a scientist and you are put into a position where your only option is to kill someone you might hesitate, or have some regrets after the fact.

| Does as human as possible rule out my guy having a mechanical arm...because I thought that would be pretty kick ass. | |

| You can have a mechanical arm. That wasn't necessarily what I meant. I just meant that I want your characters to react to a situation like a real person would. A mechanical arm is ok by me though. | |

| Name: Jack McClaven Gender: Male Age: 28 Nationality: Irish Profession: Spec. Ops. Soldier. Appearance: - Spoiler:
Personality: If you asked Jack what sort of a man he is, he'd tell you he's a brave, daring, strong, and maybe sometimes a little stubborn man. If you asked anyone else, they'd say he's a brutish, cold-hearted, careless asshole. They are all right. While he doesn't always take others feelings into consideration, he is as efficient as they come. For the most part, don't step on his toes, and he won't put a bullet in your skull. Equipment: Jack is a strong believer that the old ways, are the best ways. While the weapons have changed, killing a man is the same. If it worked then, it will work now. He allows his weapons to be upgraded, but enjoys using older style, often heavy machine gun type. Although, he does enjoy the new age body armor and always wears it into battle. He also will always carry his lucky Bowie knife, a favorite when it comes to up close in personal kills. Along with his weapons, his right arm has been completely replaced up to the shoulder with a mechanical one. It operates smoothly and never gives him any trouble, but grants him superior strength and even a shield if need be. He keeps it covered in a synthetic skin as to not stick out to much in a crowd and draw attention during undercover operations. Short Biography: Jack joined the military as soon as he could at the age of 18, always feeling a strong pull to the lifestyle. He found out quickly that he was extremely good at killing. Once through boot camp, he was recommended by every drill sergeant to join the special ops. After 4 years of killing all over the world, he got to settle down for a few months, meeting his old high school sweetheart, and having a child that he loved very much. 5 years later, the most unfortunate event of his life occurred when his wife and child were shot while he was away on assignment. If people thought he was cold before, it was nothing compared to what he had become. He lost all sense of humor but his dark humor, finding some deaths amusing. But he now cared very little for any of the lives he took, feeling somehow that every one revenged his dead kin. The incident with his arm happened within the last 11 months, when he had gone a little to Rambo. The majority of his arm was blown off by a sniper shot, whom he still killed. He is much happier with his new hardware. If you ever asked him why he was joining the mission, he would say it'd be fun to kill someone from every war. His true reason is that he hopes the changes they make will bring back his wife and son.

| I had started on 'Computer A', but I use that mostly to play WoW and Dragonica, so I'm not so much on it when I'm here. So I'm having to restart here on 'Computer B'... But at least I know better than to start CS's on my laptop now. I should be done in a few hours, I had my charry mostly mapped out anyways. Name: Victor Reuben Gender: Male Age: 31 Nationality: Britain Profession: Historical Theorist Lecturer : His job as a professor involves taking students through a virtual tour of historical events, and teaching them about what caused things to happen the way they did. Most students get solid 'B's for knowing why things went the way they did, but 'A's are rarely given out, as the requirement is that the student find points throughout history and alter the events to create a better theoretical future. This was intended to promote a better grasp of where things went wrong in the past, so that future events could be changed to better result. Appearance: - Spoiler:
Personality: He's quite accident prone, not always watching where he's going. Very excitable, often going way out of his way to see new things. Often not looking during these jogs, thus more accidents. He respects knowledge, of all kinds, but rarely is intimidated by sheer strength. His love of history is matched only by his love of fantasy, which tends to lead him to 'head in the clouds' moments of imagining other worlds, and thus more accidents. He's learned to be quite a graceful faller, and has started keeping a walking stick handy. He generally stays entirely engrossed in science, ignoring human relations in the process. He tends to appear isolated, responds awkwardly in conversations, and is oblivious to subtleties. He grabs the nearest person when excited about learning something and discusses it immediately, often without even knowing who the person is or why they were running past as if in a hurry. Equipment: For functionality, the walking stick includes a recorder, a very large memory bank filled with audio-books, notes, and videos he's taken, and a brief but potent electric shock from the reinforced end. The device is, of course, water proof and solar powered. He has, , like the rest of the team, been injected with a chronoisolater and developed communications device, or CD2 that allows tracking of his movements in the past by the Russian and British governments. This device allows instant communication with other members of the team including images, thoughts, smells, or any other data besides emotions or physical sensations. Short Biography: His life in general has been lived in books, computers, and personal explorations of the events he reads about in books and computers. He has traveled extensively to confirm rare sightings of strange occurrences, but has taken in surprisingly little of anything besides sun and science while abroad. He started off an egghead, grew up an egghead, and has stayed an egghead for many years. So says his parents, every holiday he remembers to book a flight home in time to see them. That happens about once every three or four years, or so his mother reminds him constantly. He's rarely in poor health, though often nursing bruises and occasional sprains from tripping over things that weren't there just a moment ago. He has a brother, both parents, no grandparents in living memory, no wife, no children, no girlfriend, and a cat. He is joining this mission because his job description is close, and his personal take on that even closer, to the ideally trained specialist for determining what needs to be altered in the past to produce a survivable present. His regular fieldwork trips have kept him in reasonable physical condition. Personally, he is very excited to field test the time machine, and to be able to test his theories on how history could have been played out. He was recruited directly by the Russian scientist, a previous teacher of his during his foreign exchange year. Let me know if anything in here doesn't work, I'm still working on more backstory for him. Oh, and I need to know who's sending us. A government? A world organization?

| Coolness. Anything you don't like thus far? Also, being instructed... Is that an ongoing thing? If you'd like, because of the way the device works it could communicate through time, with or without a delay of up to a day. | |

| Mine's gonna have to wait a bit. I won't be getting my laptop back until Sunday at the earliest. If I get inspired enough, I might try to hijack on of the PCs and type it, but at the moment don't count on it. Really not fond of using PCs for this kinda thing. | |

Kaki, our Russian friend will be debriefing us, showing us how the machine works, telling us the risks, and giving us our mission, then we are on our own.

| Name: Ivan Korovin Gender: Male Age: 35 Nationality: Russian Proffesion: Mercenary Appearance: - Spoiler:
Personality: Ivan has been referred to as an uncaring man but that has been proven wrong countless times. It isn't obvious, but Ivan has a very kind heart. In previous missions, Ivan has placed himself in harms way to save the lives of innocents, and children. Ivan realizes he can't save everyone, but he wishes to save as many as he can before his time comes. Equipment: Ivan is a trained Mercenary Sniper. As such, his primary weapon is a semi-automatic .30 caliber sniper rifle. The recoil is reduced by the chambering mechanism, which is a titanium spring that angles down, aiming the force of the explosion down. The maximum effective range is 1207 meters, and Ivan has made longer shots than that. Aside from the sniper, Ivan carries a large pistol and an MA-4/II tactical knife. Short Biography: still getting this together.
