Charlain Harris!!! (Writer of Southern Vampire Series)

What would you think or say about this? She is the writer of more series then just the now famous "True Blood".

I find her "Southern Vampire Series" Quite humorous.

I started watching True Blood a month or so ago, having caught up to it's current season. I really enjoy the show. There's a few things I dislike, but minor enough for me to enjoy the show. I've actually heard good things concerning the novels and was interested in checking them out. Are the shows based on the going-ons of the books, or are they greatly different? Either way, I've already obtained all of the novels in the series thus far and intend on starting the first one tonight.

I'm actually interested in the Vampire Council mentioned in the show. Does it go into more detail on that, or is it even mentioned much in the novels?
