Cult Classics Empty
PostSubject: Cult Classics   Cult Classics EmptySat Sep 12, 2009 9:17 am

Cult classics, defined by All Movie as a movie "that has minimal popular appeal but has a great following with a select group within the public sphere." One of the most famous of these is The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a movie that has a very devout following and is frequently watched at special midnight showings were people dress up and there is much audience participation.

Not all cult films have that kind of following, of course. Some just are flops at the box office but gain a following on DVD.

So, that out of the way, what's your favorite cult film?

Mine's either Army of Darkness or Repo! The Genetic Opera.

Donnie Darko. Dead Alive is cool too but I'm not sure if its a cult classic or a really low budget shitty film, hahaha. It has zombies and butchering that looks really lame so its laughably awesome.

I'm definitely a follower of anything Burton. Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, all of it.

Does that really count as a cult classic? I'm honestly asking here, I'm not sure.

Add in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang for me. Love that movie.

Well, I don't know if it strictly fits, but if there was a cult worshiping him, I'd be a member. And his movies are classic. So I think it counts.

-.- Reinterpreting the definition does not make them count.

But I think Nightmare could be considered a cult film, so I'll give you that.

It's not a cult classic. It's just a regular classic now. Almost like a disney film, cept scarier.
