Think back to a day when you went a whole 24 hours without questioning something. Does any day come to mind. It's harder than you think. We live in a world where we question everything, even if we already know the answer.
But what if this wasn't the world we lived in. What if we lived in a single government society where not only were questions not aloud, but punishable by death. Now of course, I don't mean questions like "What time is it?" But imagine if you could be killed for asking why your government passed a certain law.
That's how things are in 2517. Nobody remembers how things got to be the way they are, and nobody dares ask. But the world is no longer divided by race or country. We are all just people. Living under a single government, and praying to the same God. There are no Christians, Jews, Hindus, or Atheists. We are all just people. Everyone is given the same education up to age 14, when they are all divided into different classes, based on their ability to learn and their unique skill set for the job that is chosen for them, not that they want. We are all just people. Nobody is rich or poor (except for those that rule of course.) Everyone earns the same, no matter their profession. We are all just people.
Some might think this doesn't sound like such a bad life, and it may not be if it had always been this way. But nobody knows that once, the world was full of very unique people, that lived as they pleased and not as they were told. Nobody knows that we are all being lied to. Nobody knows anything, unless their government tells them it is truth.
But our story isn't just about living in a society like this. It's about how two individuals will survive in this society, and right the wrongs of the world when they discover the real truth. It is about how they will survive when they Question Deception.
