Drama Free Courtroom Debates

Judge Janus, the patron god of choices, of paths untaken, of duplicity and duality, appears often before the court in regal robes and bearing a grand key. The decisions he prompts those before him to make alter lives forever, and not always for the better...

The courtroom will rise for the Honorable Judge Janus, and hear the cases of those speaking for the defense of and opposition to any decisions made by the public of DHRPG. This is to include social, political, and or scientific debate, decisions regarding the policy and appearance of DHRPG which the administration has left to the hands of the public, and any appropriate mock debates which promote the court as an effective and entertaining writing forum. The voice of Janus will be decided by the party which consents defeat and agrees to settle the dispute, or by a higher power who has recognized the clear merits of either argument. All disputes will be civil and in good taste, for the Honorable Judge Janus will forever curse those who make mockery of his court with the inability to make even the most simple of decisions, such as whether to rise in the morning or even what to eat for lunch.

The court of the Honorable Judge Janus is now in session, all rise and present the first issue before the court.

My thoughts exactly.

The small man in tweed inclined towards the Judge. "Your Honor, I put before the court a new topic of debate to begin this series of hearings. I proposition a debate among all members of the court regarding the method of incentive that would best entice our numbers to return more often, and spend longer periods chatting in the waiting room with one another." He waited patiently, if nervously, for Janus to respond.
"You may proceed with your debate." The robes of the Judge rolled gently in an unseen breeze, though the god himself did not move.
"Yes, your Honor." He swallowed and continued. "I believe a reworking of the points system to increment hourly by time spent online, as well as retooled uses for the rewards, would encourage more time spent in conversation to while away the hours. This in turn could result in an exchange of ideas that would spark creative writing, restoring the site's previous potential."
The tweed-clad man sat back down, the first side had been drawn. Now to wait for further ideas, opposing theorems, and the inevitable argument against his logic.
